Intro Questions
- Makayli Anochie, Communication Design (HCI minor), Junior
- This class is required for my major.
- I've used HTML to make personalized websites for fun, and I've taken an intro CS class where we learned Java.
- I hope to better read/understand HTML. I aspire to be a UX/UI designer, so having a baseline knowledge of this will be greatly beneficial.
- There is more focus on an interactive experience because we typically expect screens to be more dynamic than static designs on paper.
- petertarka.com | Peter Tarka's portfolio site is an example of good design because of how interactive and colorful it is. It also does a good job of centering his art in the experience.
- Etsy | Etsy displays effective communication because of it's simplistic UI that functions as "invisible design". The mechanics are familiar so interactions require little thought. The focus on images also centers the buyer/seller experience.
- Spotify | Spotify is well-known for their app, but their website is an example of one that works very well. It has a neat categorization system, with features that keep users active rather than passive in their usage of the site such as the lyrics function, collaborative playlists and blends, music videos etc. There are also a lot of customization options and social elements. Spotify works well because it puts power into the users hand to be able to navigate the site how they like.
